Thanksgiving

This year I have much to be thankful for.  I am thankful for my beautiful family.  I have two children who make my life crazy and complete.  On the way home from Thanksgiving dinner I said to Cody, “I’m thankful we get to take these kids home with us.”

I am thankful for my family.  I don’t get to see them as often as I’d like.  But I am thankful they are always there at the other end of the phone line when I need them.  I am thankful for the childhood I had that has shaped me into the person I am.

I am thankful for Cody’s family.  I am thankful to have a place to  go when I feel like an orphan.  I am thankful that Cody has great  parents and so many  brothers and sisters and that get-togethers are always fun.

I am thankful that I get to stay home to raise my kids.  Even  though sometimes I want to run away, I am so lucky to be able to stay home and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

I am thankful for my husband who puts up with me and loves me and loves his kids like crazy.

There are so many things I am thankful for.  I guess these are just my top 5.

Here are some pictures from Thanksgiving dinner this year:IMG_7525IMG_7562IMG_7553IMG_7551IMG_7559IMG_7540IMG_7549IMG_7528IMG_7511IMG_7522IMG_7516IMG_7508IMG_7502 IMG_7504

decorations

so, it’s the day after Thanksgiving, and 90% of our decorations are up.  it’s crazy.  Crazy I tell you!  I guess it might have something to do with Finn asking me everyday if we can decorate yet.  But it’s lovely.  We just have to finish our lights outside and put up my upstairs Nativity and we’re done.  If only we were this far on our shopping!!  Happy Holidays, everyone!

I broke down and bought new stockings this year.  For Finn’s first Christmas, I bought family stockings.  I bought 3.  I should have bought 4.  I knew this when I bought them, yet somehow I rationalized thinking I could get the fourth one when we needed it.  Wrong.  Of course they never had that style again.  So I bought  a very cute 4th stocking when Burgundy was born – but it didn’t match.  It has bugged me every year since.  So this year I found some super-cute knit stockings and bought 4 of them.  We finally match.  So I used the other 3 and Burgundy’s non-matching stocking as decorations elsewhere.  Just something that needed to happen.

Birthday Princess

Burgundy had a fun birthday today!   We just hung out and had (another) lazy day – the best kind!

This morning we opened presents from Nana & Papa (or Wapa & Lady as Burgundy calls them) and Aunt Jen, Uncle Adam & Sydney.  Finn got a big carrying case full of hot wheels cars (which he immediately lined up in a row) & ice skates (!).  And Burgundy got an adorable skirt & sweater outfit and a wonderful little princess outfit – cape (which she wore all evening), dress, shoes, tiara and even wings with LED lights!  Later she opened our presents which included a sweater with a picture of Rigby (well a Scottie, but it’s a black dog, so close enough!) another sweater dress, a puzzle complete with sounds and a cool little pixie doll.  We had pizza for dinner & yummy cupcakes.  Then the kids got to take a bath with the dog.  Which is kinda gross really, but they loved it – ha!

Burgundy has a ton of stuffed animals and she needs every one in her bed at bedtime.  She will ask for each one by name.  Here we have: mermaid, kitty, whale, teddy bear (which she calls baby), doggy, baby, bunny, pixie, puppy, bunny bear & pumpkin kitty.  I keep trying to hide a few, but she asks for them if they are not present, tonight we were missing baby (bear) and bunny.  She couldn’t go to sleep until they were safe in her bed!

So Happy Birthday, Burgundy!  We are so lucky to have our little Leelo.  She is a ray of sunshine and a great person.  So loving and generous with her wonderful big brother.  And such a funny little girl.  She makes me laugh every day.  She loves to play dress-up with clothes and jewelry, loves clothes with Owls on them and asks to wear them everyday, loves to play trains and cars with Finn, loves to cuddle with daddy and makes our happy family complete.  How lucky are we??
