I am very excited that the end of formula is nigh. Seeing as it is roughly $100 a month, this is a very good thing. It is very interesting to have had one baby who breastfed until 15 months of age (and who would probably STILL be breastfeeding if he could) and one baby who decided she was done at 4 months. I did continue to try until she was nearly 6 months, but she decided she had had enough. And so I have been able to see the advantages and disadvantages of both. Both are the most convenient - when you're doing them. When you're breastfeeding, it seems easiest just to "whip out a boob" (as Cody would say) and not have to make a bottle. But when you're bottle-feeding it seems pretty dang easy to make a bottle and not have to mess with nursing bras, nursing shirts, privacy, etc. I do like how I was back down to pre-pregnancy weight pretty much when Finn was a year old after breastfeeding. That certainly hasn't happened this time.
Anyway, I am thrilled with the prospect that we will be done with the big yellow can in a month. I had tried to give Burgundy a few bottles with milk and she didn't like it at all. So, today I started making her bottles with 1/2 formula 1/2 whole milk, and luckily she didn't balk at all. So that is heartening. So I will do that for a week and then go down to 1/4 formula, 3/4 milk then hopefully we will make the switch. It will be a red letter day.
In other news, last night Finn woke up from a scary dream. It was about 3 in the morning and that sucked. I heard him crying and coming out of his room and I was out of bed and out the door before he even got to my door (don't ask me how I managed to do that from a dead sleep). It took me a while to even realize he had had a bad dream (since my body was awake but my brain, clearly, was not). He had a dream about a robot and a blue light, but then the kitties were biting it and protecting him. So that's good - maybe he'll think twice about torturing the cats next time... doubtful. So I think he may have had one other scary dream in his life that I remember him waking up from but it was a long time ago and he couldn't even talk yet so that is just a guess. Usually every night we kind of talk him through a visualization of choo choos and airplanes, and bright sunshine, and playing with friends, etc etc. It seems to help him wind down and transition to sleeping time. Whatever works, right?
We went to eat Chinese food with Jim tonight and Finn ate all of his food (and some of everyone else's as well) and was just such a good boy all day. I love days like that. Happy Friday, everyone. Sorry the flow of this post is choppy at best, but I guess that's how my brain is working at the moment!

Oh man. Nightmares. Poor little guy.
I guess it's good that he has an active imagination, right?
you can download some of the albums from my blog - if you're looking for new music, btw.
I'm impressed that he even remembered what the dream was about.
Isn't it amazing how quickly we can go to our children's rescue in the dead of night and not even realize tat you are actually there. I think that is where our superpowers come into affect. :>
(just curious was some one still in bed when you got back to your bed? would have been at my house. I always have the dream of hubby just watching things happen and not doing anything to fix it, oops the kids fell of the cliff oh well I couldn't get there in time, horrible dream but he doesn't do anything to allay those fears also. I think it is part of his being gone all week) oh sorry I think you hit a nerve there. :>
