So, (ever notice how I start a lot of these posts with "so"? I do.) on Wednesday, our vacuum blew up. It has been getting louder and louder and sucking less and less, and finally when Cody started it up it just kind of decided to blow all it's dust out rather than suck it in. I can't say I was surprised, or even that disappointed. We bought that vacuum 2 years ago with our tax return and I didn't love it pretty soon after I got it. It worked great for the first few uses then it just started going downhill. And it was heavy and big. So I'll spare you the saga, but suffice it to say I have been annoyed every time I had to vacuum with that machine. That could be why I didn't vacuum very often!
So, because Cody & I have gone through 3 vacuums since being married for 4 years (must be the cat hair), we decided to bite the bullet and get the Cadillac of vacuums: a Dyson. And I won't tell you the unGodly amount we spent on it, but I will tell you that it is awesome. My old one was 23 pounds - this one is 16. When I took the old one out of the closet to put the new one away - holy crap - I couldn't believe I was even able to push that behemoth around! I stopped counting after 6 times, but we had to empty the canister at least 10 times in the course of vacuuming due the amazing suction and how much stuff it was able to pick up that the old one had left behind. It also has the ball so it corners so well. And it's small so it fits places my old monster couldn't.
The only problem I have with it is the cord is a few feet shorter so I was able to get the whole house from the hall outlet with the old one, and I can't quite reach the far living room wall from that outlet with the new one. But it is a small price to pay. So here is a picture of my new love... I mean my new vacuum. Maybe I'll vacuum more than once a month now! (maybe)

Also an observation: this is from the Pumpkin Patch (pokin patch as Finn calls it) last year. A few changes this year - Finn is a little bigger & I am a little smaller!!
